Treatment and Recommendations

Modifying training and horse keeping techniques

  • Using visual cues on the ground (shining light)

  • Using Tactile cues under saddle

  • Using body language

  • Using hand signals

    • For communication, commands, feedback, and praise.

  • Using sense of smell

  • Using vibration signals (tapping the ground)

  • Give warning

    • Give them hint such as touch hindquarters or come from front

  • Give awareness of surroundings

  • The horse’s ear position tells us about horse mode. A horse’s ears can move 180 degrees to get info from all sources. For deaf horses, this information is limited, so the handler should provide surrounding awareness to horse.
